Our Story
Edward Pizzuti, a veteran of the Vietnam war era was born in the Molise region of Italy, spent his young years in Tuscany and migrated to the U.S. in 1958 with his family. Josephine Pizzuti, (Josie) was born in Sicily and also spent years growing up in Tuscany before migrating to the U.S. in 1956. Their two children, AnnMarie and Tony, and Tony’s wife Rosa are all involved in the new venture, TRATTORIA ROMA.
The Pizzuti family have been hosts to Bay Area diners since 1975. Starting with Viking’s Giant Submarines in San Francisco in 1979, and then opening their first Italian Restaurant La Trattoria in San Rafael, followed by Baci Café in 1983 in Mill Valley, Caffe Giostra in Petaluma, Chianti in Novato, Don Antonio Trattoria in Tiburon and Chianti Cucina in Sarasota, Florida. In 2018, Edward and Josephine returned to California after a 6 year stint in Sarasota, Florida. They love Petaluma and the Bay area and had missed their customers and friends.
